Hey Marc,
It’s me. Well… it’s you. Writing from the future—2025, to be exact. You’re 16, which means it’s probably 1976, and you’re sitting in your room, wondering what the hell the future holds.
I won’t spoil all the surprises, but trust me—your life is going to be an adventure.
You’ve got this creative spark, and soon, you’ll dive into studying graphic design. Take it seriously (but yeah, have some fun too). Those eight semesters? Just the beginning.
They’ll teach you about print design, art history, all that classic stuff. And it’ll be useful—for a while. But then, something big happens. A new invention shakes up everything: PCs, personal computers. And that’s just the warm-up.
Fast forward a bit, and boom—the Internet arrives. It’s going to change the way you work, think, and create. I could explain it, but honestly? You’ll figure it out. I trust you.
And just when you think you’ve seen it all, another game-changer lands: Artificial Intelligence. Sounds wild, right? It kinda is. But don’t be afraid. If you stay curious, you’ll use it to make some of your most incredible work.
Oh, and one more thing—you’re reading this in Germany, but guess what? You’ll move to California. Yeah, California! The palm trees, the ocean, the energy—it’ll be your home. You’ll travel the world, explore China, Mexico, South America… and every place will teach you something new.
So here’s my advice: keep learning, keep dreaming, and don’t ever settle for average.
Oh, and future-you has a dog named Eddie. He’s 90 pounds of love and chaos, and he says hi.
Catch you in a few decades,
Marc
PS. Between us: When you reach year 2000 buy Apple stock! And hold on to it.
